Dr. Jean Eddy
Supervising Veterinarian/ Owner
Dr. EddyDr. Eddy earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1988 from Tuft's University in Boston. Prior to veterinary school, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and worked as a registered nurse from 1976 until 1986 at several Boston hospitals, including Massachusetts General Hospital.

After Veterinary school her family drew her back to Virginia where she worked as an associate veterinarian at the Animal Clinic of Williamsburg until 1996 when she purchased Oxford Run Veterinary Clinic and changed the name to Poquoson Veterinary Hospital. The practice outgrew that facility and a new hospital was constructed on the property where it exists today.

Dr. Eddy moved to Poquoson in 1998 where she lives with her husband of 25 years, Brewer, and their four cats, Obie, Amadala, Tipitina and Mama Roux. Although owning a business has limited her free time she loves to walk, read, play piano and travel. Dr. Eddy has a special interest in avian medicine and in 1997 was presented with the Bird Club of Virginia's award for outstanding service as an avian educator. The American Association of Feline Practitioners awarded her with its outstanding student award in 1988 for interest and ability in feline medicine and surgery.

She is a member of the Poquoson Kiwanis Club, the Association of Avian Veterinarians, the Peninsula Veterinary Associates, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association and the Greater Peninsula Veterinary Medical Association. She also sits on the board of the Peninsula Veterinary Associates.
 
Dr. Russell Bailey
Veterinarian
Dr. BaileyDr. Bailey has practiced Veterinary Medicine in Poquoson since 2000. He is a native Virginian and a 1994 graduate from Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Bailey enjoys the daily challenges and variety of general practice and has particular interests in orthopedics, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, ultrasound and "pocket pets."

In his time away from work Dr. Bailey enjoys spending time with his wife, Sarah, and their daughter. The Bailey's love to go tent camping and have made several extended sailing trips on the Chesapeake Bay. He is an avid do-it-yourselfer who enjoys home improvement and remodeling. Following Hurricane Isabel, Dr. Bailey exercised his home improvement skills when he and Sarah completely reconstructed their home.

The Bailey's household is terrorized by his two dogs Angus and Simon while Bart and O'Henry, the Bailey cats, supervise activities at the family's bird feeders. All of the Bailey's pets are rescues.

Dr. Bailey is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, the Greater Peninsula Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Animal Hospital Association.
 
Dr. Brittany B. Ashworth
Veterinarian
Dr. AshworthBrittany B. Ashworth, DVM joined the Poquoson Veterinary Hospital team in June 2003. She attended the University of Virginia and graduated with a B.A. in Biology. She then attended Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech and received her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Ashworth is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association and the American Animal Hospital Association.

A native of Newport News, Dr. Ashworth returned to the area after graduating. She began working at Poquoson Veterinary Hospital in June 2003 as Dr. Barker. She married her husband, Kevin Ashworth, September 20, 2003, in the aftermath of Hurricane Isabel and hence became Dr. Ashworth.

Since childhood Dr. Ashworth wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine, and is now finally living out her dream. Everyday as a veterinarian brings new and exciting challenges, but for her, the best part of veterinary medicine is when demanding medical and surgical cases result with happy endings. Though she enjoys working with all animals, she is particularly interested in rabbit medicine, surgery and dentistry.

Away from the office, Dr. Ashworth and her husband enjoy spending time with their daughter. They enjoy playing tennis, hiking and wakeboarding when possible. She also likes relaxing evenings reading and watching movies. The Ashworth's have 3 pets: a Golden/Lab mix named Isabel, a gray tabby cat named Miss Jefferson, and a Holland Lop rabbit named Abby Noel.
 
Dr. Heather L. Price
Veterinarian
Dr. PriceHeather Price, DVM is a native of Richmond, Virginia. She earned her undergraduate degree in 2000 from North Carolina State with a B.S. in Zoology. From there she went on to graduate from The Ohio State University with a degree in veterinary medicine in 2004. Looking for warmer climates, she and her husband, Andy, decided to move back to Virginia. Dr. Price joined the Poquoson Veterinary Hospital team in 2004.

Dr. Price married her husband, Andy, in 2004. They reside in the city of Newport News with their four pets. She has an 8 year old Siamese cat, Lilly, an 8 year old tortie cat, Phantom, a 3 year old Miniature Australian Shepherd, Skyler, and a Mini Aussie puppy, Grits. Her husband is currently a law student at Regent University in Virginia Beach.

In her spare time, Dr. Price is very active in dog obedience and performance sports. She is an active member of Merrimac Dog Training Club, and enjoys competing in agility with Skyler. Skyler and Dr. Price recently won 3 first place ribbons in their first agility match. Dr. Price has high hopes that Grits will follow in his sister's agility footsteps. To relax, Dr. Price enjoys reading, doing puzzles, and traveling (when she has time!)

Dr. Price has always dreamed of working with animals and now she is able to fulfill that dream everyday. She enjoys the challenge that diagnosing and treating animals poses. Dr. Price has special interests in internal medicine, reproduction, feline, and alternative medicine. She also enjoys seeing exotic pets.

She is a member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association and the Greater Peninsula Veterinary Medical Association.

Barbara
Licensed Veterinary Technician
BarbaraBarbara was born and raised in Newport News and is now a resident of Hampton. Barbara joined Poquoson Veterinary Hospital in January 1998 as a Veterinary Assistant. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Christopher Newport University, an Associates degree in Veterinary Technology from Blue Ridge Community College and has been a Licensed Veterinary Technician since July of 2000. Barbara grew up with many animals including dogs, ducks, rabbits, chickens, birds, fish and turtles and wanted to work with animals ever since she fixed her chicken's broken leg with a tongue depressor and tape. She is the mother of her dog Charlotte and two cats Birdie and Grace.
 
Amy L.
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Amy L.Amy returned to Virginia in 2002 after her husband completed his 4-year commitment to the Army. In May of that year she became a member of the Poquoson Veterinary Hospital team as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. She is a 1997 graduate of Blue Ridge Community College where she obtained a degree in Veterinary Technology. Her happy family includes her husband, Justin, her baby daughter, her dogs Sadie and Brogan, her cat, Mimi, Joey the bird, and her horses, Terry and Buckwheat. In her free time, Amy enjoys spending time with her little girl, horseback riding and reading.
 
Julie
Licensed Veterinary Technician
JulieJuliana moved to the big city of Hampton and joined Poquoson Veterinary Hospital as a Licensed Veterinary Technician in April 2003. She moved from a dairy farm in Cambria, NY, a small town just outside of Niagara Falls, populated by cows, goats, corn and veggies. Julie is a 2002 graduate of Medaille College in Buffalo, NY, where she earned her degree in Veterinary Technology. She enjoys the mild Virginia winters and being near the ocean during the summer. She is the proud owner of two Australian Shepherds, Sadie and Rosie Rumpus, who have recently retired from their herding days back in New York. Julie is a member of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America.
 
Yacinthe
Licensed Veterinary Technician

YacintheYacinthe was Active Duty Air Force and came from Yokota Air Base in Japan to Langley Air Force Base Virginia in September 1997. She left the Air Force and joined the Poquoson Veterinary team as a veterinary assistant in November 2000. She also joined the Air National Guard in 2001 and served in Operation Freedom. She has a husband (Chris), and two sons (Deric and Christopher). Her family also includes one dog (Sky) and two cats (Rio and China).

During her time at Poquoson Veterinary Hospital, Yacinthe enjoyed the job so much that she decided to get her Associates degree to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. She completed the three year online Veterinary Technician program at Northern Virginia Community College in May of 2007. She passed her National Board Exam and is now a Licensed Veterinary Technician.
