Haley G. Nelson, VMD attended the University of Delaware and graduated with a B.S. in Pre-Veterinary Animal Bioscience with a minor in Biology.  She then attended University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2021.

Since childhood Dr. Nelson as loved everything science and animals and is living out her dream as a veterinarian.  Dr. Nelson has worked with a variety of animals with the Philadelphia Zoo, the Staten Island Zoo, and the Raptor Trust, a wild bird rehabilitation facility, before deciding to attend veterinary school.  She has also worked as a veterinary assistant and technician in a small animal hospital.  Dr. Nelson has professional interests in cardiology, neurology, surgery and exotic animal medicine. 

Dr. Nelson completed a rotating small animal internship after graduation at Nashville Veterinary Specialists animal emergency center in Nashville Tennessee.  Dr. Nelson moved to Virginia with her husband after completing the internship and began working at Poquoson Veterinary Hospital in August 2022.  She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association.

Outside of the office, Dr. Nelson enjoys spending time with her husband and their dog and cat.  She also enjoys anything that gets her outside.  You can most likely find her hiking and running with her dog, swimming, surfing or reading a good book on her porch.  She also enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family.
